There were certain things in his life that Aaron hated, and one of them was the NEKO mill. He despised living in this wretched place more than anything else on this ear; well, except for maybe the person who invented it. He couldn’t help but feel such a burning and assimilating hatred towards the person who invented all of this; he wanted them to feel pain. Aaron wanted them to feel pain like no other, for every person they hurt; for every family they tore apart. But he didn’t know who this man was, because if he did…he would go after him himself. He would use all the powers at his exposal to completely terminate and destroy his wasted, useless existence. Now you see, Aaron wasn’t angry per say…he was infuriated. He was locked out of his room once more, and he would probably be forced to spend the night in the hallway just like he had done last week.
The boy didn’t mind it to a certain extent, because he could always illuminate the darkness with a flick of his digits; but it was still…degrading, almost. He was a NEKO, but he had human in him. How could an establishment like this treat…treat people so terribly? They were still all people! They all still had feelings! Emotions! And yet…yet they were treated like such a lower form of property…it was disgusting. It sickened the boy to no end, and this was where most of his hatred for the humans spurred from. The fact that they thought they were so much better than every single being out there; it was pathetic, really. He despised people with all his being, and yet…yet he depended on them in this filth ridden society he called a “home.”
He suddenly let a non-threatening growl from the back of his throat. Someone was coming. Someone was walking. He could smell them. Hear them. It was sickening, and so the boy stood up next to his dorm, beginning to tap his foot out of pure annoyance.
Tonight was not going to be pleasant and he knew it.

e v i l c o m e n o t n e a rR A I N B O W L O V E AW A I T S U Swi t h h e a r t s o f l o v e a n d t e a r s-------------- Fool had spent a long day trying not to laugh. Something had gone wrong with the main computer, not that he could exactly remember what; he’d half-blacked-out for a lot of it He’d finally been discharged when the problem was fixed to a point where the rest of the computers could do whatever it was they hadn’t been able to do while the main one was down. Yeah, Fool was just as confused after he fixed it as the people trying to use the broken computer had been, though he did come up with some scenarios in his head. Not that he’d ever get to try them out; the computer was fixed now and that was the point. The dappled NEKO walked without intention of diverting attention from himself; he didn’t expect anyone to be in the halls this late. When he caught sight of the dark haired NEKO in the hall he was a little surprised. He recoiled a little, frightened of someone he didn’t know. Joker giggled at his timidness, and Fool dug in mental claws so he wouldn’t have to slip into Goramild. “Hey,” he called, “What’re you doing outside this late. The doors are-re on au-automatic locks, you kno-ow.” Fool growled at himself, realizing how scared that had come out sounding. Joker cackled, but Fool ignored him with a wince. He shook his head violently, tail lashing for a moment. “Sorry. Er… uh… are you al-alright-t?” Fool looked away shyly, trying to convince himself that he wasn’t going to be hurt.

Aaron really wasn’t surprised that someone was up this late at night. People always tended to roam the halls of the mill when they were not supposed to. Though, for some odd reason or another, the person roaming the halls was…a…NEKO. Aaron felt his ears perk up ever so slightly and a small smile of relief played on his lips; he would much rather run into a NEKO than a human. He felt an instant ping of guilt though, as he saw the other being stutter and look away frightened. What had they done to him? What was wrong with him? Was he just scared of the place like Aaron was? No, that couldn’t be it, because he was walking around…Aaron knows for a fact that even the most courageous of people will not walk around freely when they are scared…it just…doesn’t happen. He let his eyes settle away from the other NEKO before speaking.
“I got locked out of my room…so I was planning on sleeping in the hallway tonight. Yeah, I guess I’m all right.” He spoke in a small tone. It was a timid one, but it was also tender and sincere. He let his back gently slide down the wall as a small sigh escaped his lips. The hallway was rather depressing sometimes…and he didn’t even like the mill to begin with…he wasn’t sure what to do now, so instead he just looked to the other NEKO and asked a small question.
“How come you’re up? Are you hurt? Do you need help?” Aaron felt his hands move against the wall as he gently moved to a standing position again, keeping his eyes on the other NEKO. They held concern and protection inside them, and he was actually, genuinely worried about the being in front of him.
He just hoped whatever was wrong,
Aaron could fix It for the boy.

e v i l c o m e n o t n e a rR A I N B O W L O V E AW A I T S U Swi t h h e a r t s o f l o v e a n d t e a r s-------------- Fool took a deep breath. There was no way the NEKO could hurt him like a human could. Joker laughed in that way that said ‘ooh, but you’re wrong.’ Then it hit him. The mutations. Could Aaron be sent to hurt him or kill him because he’d messed up somehow with the computer? He hugged his arms close to himself and slipped one hand to his mouth, where he nervously licked at his first knuckle. He wasn’t eighteen yet, was he? Wouldn’t they have told him before he was going to die because he hadn’t been adopted? No… he couldn’t be eighteen yet. His seventeenth birthday had been so… well, he couldn’t say close. Not really. He’d lost track of time before, and with all the blackouts he’d been having lately it could have been a year or two since that birthday. But something about that almost fearful tone told Fool that this was a NEKO to be trusted. He had a nice air about him, not like one who was going to hurt him. His instincts told him that this one was a good person, and Fool knew to trust his instincts. Plus, this guy looked almost as timid as him, which meant he probably wasn’t too skilled with whatever ability he had, if he had one. “I was fixing the computers… I don’t think I need help,” Fool said, blinking and blushing a little at the empathy in the odd NEKO’s eyes. His own eyes went down to check himself for injury. He had a shallow gash along his right hand from a jagged piece of metal he’d run into when fixing the computer, but that was it. “My hand kind of hurts, but it’s pretty much scabbed over, honestly.” He smiled. He’d managed to turn himself around and stop stuttering in just a few moments. He was improving. Or maybe this guy was just really trustworthy.

There was something about the boy in front of him…something different…that made Aaron feel for him. Maybe it was just the air of the boy? No, it had to be something else…he didn’t know, but it was just a feeling he had in the pit of his stomach that told him something was wrong here. There was something about this boy…that drew Aaron in, that made him want to help him, a little more than usual. He couldn’t help but smile though, when he heard the boy speak and get rid of his stutter pretty quickly. It gave Aaron hope that maybe the boy could be okay. Maybe with just the right amount of support, he would be all right. Maybe Aaron and he could be friends…yeah…Aaron needed some friends anyway.
He felt his ears perk up when the boy said he had a scratch on his hand. Ever so gently Aaron walked over, and giving him cautious eyes, reached for the boy’s hand, taking it into his own with such delicate care.
“What happened?” He looked up to meet the boy’s eyes for a moment, before a small blush lit up his cheeks and he dropped his hand, taking a step back.
“S-sorry.” He let his tail gently move up and curl into his own hands, keeping them busy as he kept his eyes down out of embarrassment. Aaron didn’t always mean to be so…so frightened looking, but it just tended to happen. He never wanted to hurt people, he never wanted to offend people, and so he thought it better if the boy just go now. He didn’t want to avoid personal space, and he didn’t want to make him feel any worse than he already seemed to.
“Sorry. You can go now…sorry I held you up.” He gave a timid smile before moving back against the wall for a moment, beginning to slide down it once more.
This place was never fair to begin with, so why should it start now?

e v i l c o m e n o t n e a rR A I N B O W L O V E AW A I T S U Swi t h h e a r t s o f l o v e a n d t e a r s-------------- Fool’s eyebrows came together, his ears flicked first back, then forward. The air of distrust, of timidness had lessened suddenly around the other NEKO which was a little disturbing. This was a place where no one trusted anyone even if they wanted to. No, everyone here had been hurt enough times by people they thought they could trust. Quite honestly, Fool was a bit scared of trust, perhaps not trusting someone; he’d been shown how untrustworthy people were enough times to stop expecting them to give him the light of day anyway, but of being trusted. It generally meant that someone was about to get hurt. And there were two possible selections for that someone; him or the other NEKO. At the touch, Fool recoiled slightly, flinching away from the possibility of pain or injury. Still, he forced himself still on two reasons. First was that, if he was going to die, Fool would much rather be killed by a NEKO than by a human. He wasn’t sure why, but it seemed less cruel. And the second was that this boy didn’t seem like he wanted to hurt Fool. Not really, at least. If he was some sort of assassin or killer or whatever he obviously wasn’t interested in trying to hurt anyone. Fool took a deep breath. He wanted to be friends with this odd guy. Why not? After all, he had less than a year to live. What did he have to lose besides a few months if the dark haired NEKO turned on him? He forced himself to smile. Fear is just a message to your brain. It’s just chemicals or something. Ignore it, he told himself. And taking one more deep breath, he spoke without a stutter. “Thank you so much for your help. I’m terribly sorry to have been a bother, but since we’ve met and we’re on friendly terms, could I perhaps get your name?” As he said it, Fool crouched down to the other NEKO’s level, forcing his smile to become one of curious caring. He tilted his head to the side, just to add to the effect, and let his ears flop to the same side.

It was…odd, letting yourself trust other people. Aaron hadn’t trusted someone in a long time…but he felt like he could trust this body…he felt like everything would be okay if he did. He didn’t seem like he was some type of malicious NEKO like a lot of the other ones that worked for Oblivion 12. Aaron didn’t quite understand why you would work for such an organization…but hey, he imagined if it was working for them to stay alive, or not working for them and dying; he would chose the staying alive any time. Though he felt kind of…embarrassed, for some reason, with this other boy around. He felt like he was…out of place. He didn’t know why, he just sort of…felt it. He felt his face heat up just a little bit more when the boy bent down to his own level, feeling his cheeks gently flood with heat before he spoke up in a little bit of a stutter.
“N-no…I was being the bother…I-I’m F27-” The boy quickly cut himself off. He hated that the mill had programmed him to use his number…as an ID, instead of his name.
“M-my name is Aaron, sorry.” He gave yet another timid smile before feeling his body freeze. He heard something…he was sure he heard it. Whether it was outside, inside; he knew he heard it- felt it even. The wind was picking up and whipping around, and then…then there was some type of explosion. There was a loud crash before suddenly there was wailing. An alarm was going off. People were rushing by. The door to both the NEKO’s left suddenly opened and four to five men flooded out with guns. Aaron quickly stood up, fear engulfing him for a moment as the men ran by them. Two or three were about to knock into the boy In front of him, and instinctively Aaron felt his hand move out to capture the boy’s wrist and pull him out of the way, his arms encircling him for a moment protectively.
“C-careful, they almost hit you.” He spoke in a small voice the male, his eyes following the men as they turned a corner and disappeared, and Aaron let the boy go gently. There was another crash. More yelling. Screaming. Then the boy saw blood spatter on the wall, and before the boy in front of him could see it, Aaron’s hand caught his and he yanked him to the side as he began to run down the hallway.
“C’mon we have to get out!” He said as they gently rounded the corner and Aaron felt his eyes widen. There was a giant…hole…in the middle of the building…w-why was it here? What was going on? Aaron didn’t care; all that mattered was getting out. He still held onto the boy’s hand and stopped for a moment, sniffing, listening, looking.
“We’re getting out, c’mon.” He spoke in a small voice, giving the boy a reassuring smile before darting out of the hole in the wall and into the open field outside the mill. The gates were completely destroyed, and right as they were about to reach them, Aaron heard something loud. He felt his face turn around and his breath caught in the back of his throat. There was…such a large…sphere of complete blackness…coming towards them. Aaron quickly pushed the boy behind him and put his hands up as light began to encircle them.
“Stay back so you don’t get hurt!” He yelled through the loud hum of the random attack that was hurdling towards them. Aaron focused his eyes for a moment before they turned a light yellow, and then suddenly there seemed to be a well of light shooting down from the sky. It fell in front of the boy’s and gently increased in width and density as it formed a large wall in front of them made out of pure, smoldering light. Aaron felt his muscles tense as finally, after what seemed like hours; the mass clashed with his wall. There was so much wind hurdling at him in that moment; it whipped at his face and caused small lacerations to decorate his porcelain like skin. After seconds that seemed like forever the onslaught was finally over. A large, crater of black charcoal sat in the middle of the field, and Aaron felt like he couldn’t move. His breath was coming unevenly, his muscles were trembling and he felt as if he would collapse at any moment.
Then he nearly did. His knees hit the floor as he leaned all his weight onto his leg, right hand quaking as it made its way into the dirt for support, his left eye closing gently. He couldn’t see out of it, a set back of his own defense. He could only pray for one thing and one thing only though.
That the boy behind him was safe.

e v i l c o m e n o t n e a rR A I N B O W L O V E AW A I T S U Swi t h h e a r t s o f l o v e a n d t e a r s-------------- The thrill of almost-positive touch surprised Fool this time, as he was pulled away from the running men. He had such slow reflexes that he had to smile apologetically in return as Aaron helped him out of the way and then condemn himself for being such a failure as a cat. After he was done mentally beating himself up over the small problem, he realized the touch was gone and he slipped away out of Aaron’s arms. As they moved down the hall, and there was that hole, something lit in Fool that hadn’t been there for so long that he could taste its newness on his tongue. The rest of the mad dash for freedom was mostly a blur, with the slight knowledge of Aaron’s hand in his—that wasn’t actually bad at all, it kind of kept Fool anchored and stopped him from going insane and letting Joker out again—and adrenaline running through him, threatening to make him freeze up and never want to move again. Then there was the black ball of some sort of odd, dark energy and everything blanked out for a very short while, and then there was a flash of light. Everything slammed back into reality after the energy clash and Fool moved over to Aaron as fast as he possibly good while he was still shivering in fear and kind of excitement at the same time. He carefully looked over his companion’s injuries, and none were all too bad, but the effort that had probably taken was taking its toll. “You alright?” Fool bit his lip, entirely uncertain of what to do, and he leaned over to draw his tongue over a few of the scratches on Aaron’s cheek. He then stood up and offered Aaron a shoulder to lean on and a hand to help him up. He tried very hard not to laugh because he could taste that new thing in the air still, smell it, feel it brush soft against his fingertips like leaves or grass. He felt it. The possibility that this nightmare was ending. That he could wake up, or at least slip into a better dream.

Aaron was surprised at how much energy it really took to block the heavy attack. Where had it come from? What was going on? Questions flew left and right in the boy’s mind, trying desperately to figure out what was happening and how he could keep the other boy safe. He gently nodded to the boy when he asked if he was all right, but then Aaron felt something…smooth and wet on his face. He looked to the side to realize the boy had…he l-licked him. Aaron felt his face turn a bright shade of red. No one had ever really…touched him, before, let alone…licked him. It was an…an odd feeling, but there was something there….something beneath the lick that was surfacing to Aaron’s attention.
It was the underlying message that the boy cared. It was something Aaron hadn’t felt in such a long time…and for some reason he just…he didn’t want to let go of it. He didn’t want the feeling of being wanted, of being needed to go away. And that was why he got up. It was why he let his hand fall into the other boy’s gently and he pulled himself to his feet slowly, staggering a little and using the boy as some type of rock so he wouldn’t fall. He looked around as the guards began to swarm around the building like ants to fresh meat, and then there was more fear. One of the guards was looking through a pair of binoculars and he was about to face them. Aaron raised his hand as a bright flash of light was illuminated from it, the man staggering back as he was blinded. Never did Aaron’s hand leave the boy’s, and because of this he turned towards the forest and pulled him along.
“We have to g-go before they s-see us!” He pulled him through the dense foliage as he ran with the other male, moving through tree after tree until they were practically buried within the forest. Aaron slowed down, his hand giving the male a small squeeze to assure him that he was still there.
“O-over here.” He gently pulled him to what seemed to be a small out-cove in the forest. It was a little sitting area that was encased around trees and bushes and was hard to see, but Aaron had found it. He walked through the bushes and gently made a path for the boy as well, but he had to walk backwards and let go of the boy’s hand in the process. He felt his heel hit into something and his eyes widened; it was a protruding tree root. He sensed himself falling backwards, but out of instinct he felt his hands reach out and grab hold of the boy in front of him, and gently Aaron pulled himself to the boy, hugging him fully as a blush lit up his face, but he didn’t move. He apologized softly to the boy, but his arms just seemed to remain tight around him. His head buried its way gently onto his chest, and for the first time in years…Aaron felt…secure.
He felt…safe.
And he never wanted to let go.

e v i l c o m e n o t n e a rR A I N B O W L O V E AW A I T S U Swi t h h e a r t s o f l o v e a n d t e a r s-------------- Fool decidedly liked the forest. It was big and open but it was safe; it had a million places to hide. Still, there was a nagging cackling laughter that kept demanding his mind become its. He continued to resist, keeping his eyes on the boy in front of him. The other NEKO had saved his life, he realized. Saved him from the horror of a death by however they killed overage NEKO. He smiled softly; trusting a little more because this really was the person who’d helped him escape from that nightmare. Not that this wouldn’t mean they were stepping into another nightmare, but there was always… hope, Fool thought. He hadn’t had that word pop to mind in ages. Suddenly, Aaron was against him. Fool blinked stupidly, trying to analyze this situation and failing miserably at gleaning any kind of sense from the carcass of his mind at the moment. He rested his chin comfortably on Aaron’s head and sighed. They were free, at least for now, and they might as well relax, right? Still, it felt almost dangerous to have someone so close, physically; he wasn’t sure if Aaron was close mentally. He didn’t even know Fool’s name, and they hadn’t known each other for more than an hour at most. Fool moved carefully away, trying not to jump or startle him or his companion. He leaned against a tree just out of Aaron’s reach and tried to put his mind back together before Joker took the chance to make him blank out. He finally decided that he should probably introduce himself. “I’m.. I’m Y4011. Though I guess I’m really Fool now that we’re out. I-It’s nice to meet you. Thanks for… getting me out. I o-owe you my life, really.” He smiled weakly, trying to hide his slightest edge of fear.
